Notice of Proposed Rule Making: 6 NYCRR Part 890 - Newtown Creek Reclassification
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) filed a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking with the New York State Department of State on September 1, 2026, to amend 6 NYCRR Part 890 titled “Newtown Creek Reclassification”. The proposed rule amends the classification of Newtown Creek in Kings and Queens County, NY from Class SD to Class I, and is supported by a Use Attainability Analysis. The Notice of Proposed Rule Making is available in the September 16, 2026 issue of the State Register.
The public is invited to submit written comments on the proposed rulemaking beginning on September 16, 2026.
